Dubai’s getting ready to ring in the new year, and with it comes some major road closures, especially around popular spots like JBR, Downtown Dubai, and Burj Khalifa. Here’s what you need to know:

Road Closures:

  • Initial Closures (4 PM, Dec 31): Al Asayel Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, and Lower Financial Centre Street will be closed to general traffic.
  • Progressive Closures: More roads will be closed as the night progresses, including Al Sukook Street (8 PM), Upper Financial Centre Street (9 PM), and Sheikh Zayed Road (11 PM).

Getting Around:

  • Public Transport: Dubai Metro’s Red Line will operate for 43 hours non-stop, and buses/trams will run on modified routes.
  • Parking: Limited parking near celebration zones; use alternative parking areas with shuttle buses.
  • Taxis/Ride-hailing: Operate before closures, but drop-off/pick-up outside restricted zones.

Tips:

  • Arrive early (before 4 PM if driving)
  • Use public transport
  • Expect delays and plan accordingly
