His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has launched a global humanitarian initiative named “Rashid’s Villages” in memory of his late brother, Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. The project aims to construct model villages worldwide to provide comprehensive support for underprivileged families.
The initiative will offer not only housing but also access to education, healthcare, and social services to beneficiaries. The first model village will be established in Kenya on a 7.2-hectare site, incorporating sustainable development principles and renewable energy solutions. The community will feature fully furnished homes, a mosque, a multipurpose hall capable of accommodating 500 people, a sports academy, and a football field.
Education will be a cornerstone of the project through the Rashid Education Project, which will provide learning opportunities for over 320 children using an integrated digital system. The initiative will also offer vocational training programs and support for small business development to help residents achieve economic independence.
Healthcare services will include a health center, sanitation systems, clean water supply, and preventive care facilities, implemented in collaboration with international humanitarian organizations. The project represents a holistic approach to community development, addressing multiple aspects of human welfare.
Future plans involve launching new villages annually, expanding the initiative’s reach to support vulnerable communities worldwide while honoring the legacy of Sheikh Rashid. The program reflects Dubai’s commitment to sustainable humanitarian work and creating lasting positive impact through structured, scalable interventions.
